Glueless Wig FAQ: Installation, Fit & Lace Guide
Glueless Wig FAQ
New to glueless wigs or deciding between lace sizes? We've got you covered. Below are answers to the questions we hear most from ZahBella customers.
Installation & Fit
How does a glueless wig stay on without glue?
Every ZahBella glueless unit is built with three layers of security so you never have to reach for an adhesive:
- Invisible drawstring — A hidden drawstring runs along the perimeter of the cap. Pulling it tightens the wig to your head shape for a snug, custom-feeling fit.
- Built-in combs — Small combs are sewn into the front, back, and sides of the cap. They grip your natural hair (or a wig grip band) and lock the unit in place throughout the day.
- Adjustable elastic straps — Two velcro straps at the nape let you fine-tune the tension so the wig sits flush against your head — no gaps, no sliding.
Together these features create a secure hold that works for everyday wear, workouts, and everything in between.
I'm a beginner — what do I need to install a glueless wig?
Glueless wigs are designed specifically for easy, at-home installs. Here's a simple beginner checklist:
- Prepare your hair. Braid, twist, or wrap your natural hair flat. Use a wig cap to keep everything smooth.
- Put on the wig. Align the front hairline with your natural hairline (about a finger-width above your brows is a good starting point).
- Secure the combs. Press the front comb in first, then the back, then the sides.
- Adjust the drawstring. Gently pull the drawstring until the cap fits snugly — not too tight.
- Tighten the straps. Fasten the elastic straps at the nape for a final, customised hold.
- Style the lace. Lay your HD lace flat with a small amount of mousse or edge control, then style your parting.
No glue, no professional installation needed.
Can I wear a glueless wig during workouts or all day?
Yes. The combination of combs, the drawstring, and the adjustable straps is designed to handle daily activity. For extra peace of mind during high-intensity workouts, a silicone wig grip band worn under the cap adds a non-slip surface and is a popular option for active wearers.
When would I want extra support beyond the built-in features?
Most customers find the built-in combs, drawstring, and straps more than sufficient. However, you may want additional support if you:
- Have very fine or silky natural hair that doesn't grip combs as easily
- Are wearing the wig for extended periods (8+ hours) without adjusting
- Prefer an ultra-secure feel for special occasions or travel
In those cases, a wig grip headband or a light application of got2b Glued spray along the perimeter are easy, non-damaging options.
Lace Size: 7×5 vs. 13×4
What is HD lace and why does it matter?
HD (High Definition) lace is an ultra-thin, near-invisible lace that melts into the skin without needing heavy makeup or bleaching. ZahBella wigs use HD lace so your hairline looks natural right out of the box — no matter your skin tone.
What is a 7×5 lace closure and who is it best for?
A 7×5 lace closure measures 7 inches across and 5 inches back from your hairline. It gives you:
- A natural-looking center or slightly off-center part
- Great coverage at the crown and top of the head
- A beginner-friendly install — less lace to melt and lay flat
Best for: Everyday wear, beginners, and anyone who prefers a defined part without a lot of styling fuss.
What is a 13×4 lace frontal and who is it best for?
A 13×4 lace frontal spans the full width of your hairline — 13 inches ear to ear — and 4 inches back. It gives you:
- Full styling freedom: part anywhere across the entire front hairline
- The ability to pull hair away from the face for updos, high ponytails, and side parts
- A more dramatic, seamless hairline from temple to temple
Best for: Versatile styling, protective styles, and wearers who love to switch up their part or wear their hair back.
Which lace size should I choose?
| 7×5 Closure | 13×4 Frontal | |
|---|---|---|
| Parting area | Center/slight off-center | Anywhere ear to ear |
| Styling flexibility | Moderate | High |
| Install difficulty | Easier | Slightly more involved |
| Updos / ponytails | Limited | Yes |
| Best for | Beginners & everyday | Versatile stylists |
